Social Media Hacks to ‘train Your FYP’ for positive content in 2026: 5 simple methods you can use today

We’ve all heard terms like, ‘I want to stay on this side of Tik Tok’, so people will leave a comment in hopes of their fyp giving them content related to what they just watched.

Social media algorithms can be complex when it comes to deciding which content to push out to which users, and, for understandable reasons, people only want content that will benefit them when it comes to entertainment, positivity, and overall content that will help support a positive mental balance.

Social media has come a long way in using AI for its algorithms, so I want to cover social media hacks on how to “train your FYP” for positive content in 2026.

Let’s dive in!

Algorithms explained in a nutshell

Simply put, when it comes to social media, an algorithm decides which posts, videos, and photos to show you first. It looks at things like what you’ve watched, liked, commented on, shared, or searched for, then predicts what you’re most likely to enjoy or engage with next using all of those metrics simultaneously. This is just a visual of what it looks like:

With billions of users across all of the social media platforms, the algorithm can be pretty complex when it decides what content to push out and to which users.

Here are the five methods you can start using today to begin shifting the algorithm toward the content you want.

Engage with the content in several ways

Social media platforms thrive off engagement, so whether a video comes up on your FYP or if it’s something you searched for yourself, engaging with that content will tell the social media platform that this is what you like. This includes liking the video, leaving a comment, responding to other comments, and sharing or reposting content.

I also want to mention that there are timers that start ticking the minute you land on a video, so if it’s content that resonates with you, I highly recommend watching the entire video and leaving a like, comment, or even scrolling through the comment section and engaging with other comments. Replaying the video can even let the social media platform know that it resonates with you.

Scroll to the next video if something you don’t like comes across your fyp

All of the social media platforms are notorious for occasionally pushing out content to a wide range of people, even if it isn’t content they normally engage with. My guess is that they do this to test engagement among different users.

I mentioned earlier the internal timer used on videos and posts to measure engagement, so, in this case, I recommend scrolling to the next video as soon as possible if it’s something that doesn’t align with your interests or well-being. It lets the algorithm know you aren’t interested.

Show the People You Follow Some Love

If there are creators whose content you really enjoy and get a lot of benefits from, going to their page to see if they have updated content and engaging with that content can also help your algorithm stay in the same niche areas that interest you.

Personally, I’ve noticed that by doing this, I’ll get similar content on my FYP from another creator I’ve never heard of, but it’s content I like, so I’ll engage with them and sometimes drop a follow.

Search For the Content You Like

Typing in what you want to see in the search bar over time is another way to let the algorithm know that that’s what you want to see. Typing it into the search bar is a direct indicator that shows you are looking for that type of content.

I do this frequently myself, and my experience is that it takes a little bit of time for the FYP to give me that type of content, so I recommend being patient and typing what you want to see consistently for a little while.

Consider Following Creators or Unfollowing Creators

If something pops up on your FYP that resonates with you, following that creator can have an impact on the types of content they push out to you. If they go live, joining their live streams can play a role in training your FYP as well.

On the other hand, if you’ve had enough of a creator, unfollowing them (and potentially blocking them) can let the social media platform know you aren’t interested in that type of content anymore.

Wrap-Up

I covered five simple social media hacks to train your FYP in 2026 so you can eventually receive the positive content you’re interested in. In 2026, the algorithms are complex because there are so many different kinds of videos, posts, and reels out there, but these simple engagement hacks should help you begin getting the content you’re looking for.

Keep in mind that you likely won’t see the results you’re looking for overnight, but by using these methods consistently over time, you should notice your FYP start to give you the content you’re looking for. Until next time.

–Cheers!
